Andrew S. Bondy, Ph.D.  
Andy Bondy
Andrew Bondy has over 30 years experience working with children and adults with autism and related developmental disabilities. He served for over twelve years as the Director of the Delaware Autistic Program. He has taught numerous university level courses for teachers and specialists regarding autism, behavior analysis, curriculum design, effective instruction, and functional communication training. He has presented regional, national, and international workshops concerning educational, behavioral, and communicative issues pertaining to preschool children through adults with autism.

Dr Bondy has consulted to numerous school districts and private programs regarding the implementation of effective programs for children and adults with autism. He has designed the Pyramid Approach to Education as a combination of broad-spectrum behavior analysis and functional communication strategies. He is co-developer of the Picture Exchange Communication System. The system offers a unique blend of behavior analysis and functional communication training.

Lori A. Frost, MS, CCC/SLP  

Lori Frost

Lori A. Frost is vice-president and co-founder of Pyramid Educational Consultants, Inc. She is co-author of the PECS Training Manual. She has been the driving force behind creating this unique system that allows children with limited communication abilities to initiate communication with teachers, parents, and peers. Ms. Frost has a wealth of background in functional communication training and applied behavior analysis. She has assisted in the development of a number of training packages designed to teach language and academic skills. Ms. Frost received her BA in speech pathology and audiology from the University of Arkansas, and MS in speech and language pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982. She has worked in many public and private school settings as a speech pathologist.

As a Pyramid consultant, Ms. Frost has traveled across the country and the world, teaching workshops on PECS and the Pyramid Approach to Education. She has presented a number of papers and lectures on autism and communication, co-authored several articles and chapters, and is respected by professionals in her field as a leader in functional communication systems.

.Julia Biere (M.Sc, SLP-CCC)  
Julia Biere

Julia Biere is Pyramid UK's Clinical Director. She has worked as a speech and language therapist since receiving her Master's degree in 1987 from Fontbonne University, USA. Her work experience includes serving as Programme Director at a residential treatment centre for people with autism and other learning difficulties, providing consultation and training for schools and families, and developing in-home intervention programmes for people with autism.  In addition, Julia served as Director for an agency in Missouri providing on-site therapy and full-time inclusion support for children with autism attending mainstream schools.

Julia has extensive experience of consultation, training and implementing programmes based on applied behaviour analysis.   She joined Pyramid UK in April 2003




Zena Barton (B.Phil)  
Zena Barton

Zena Barton is now the longest serving member of staff in the UK, joining Pyramid in March 2001. Prior to working for Pyramid UK Zena was Senior Portage Worker with the Portage and Early Support Service in Brighton and has a wealth of experience from her almost 20 years working in the field.
Z ena attended the first ever PECS 2 Day Workshop in England provided by Andy Bondy and Lori Frost (1997) and has been involved with Pyramid ever since. Zena has travelled far and wide within her job, including trips to America, Ireland, Greece, India, Qatar, and Switzerland.

Zena special area of interest is in developing services for families. These have included the development of the first summer school programme in the UK and more recently setting up PECS Intensive Programmes both in the PECS Clinic in Brighton and in home settings.




 

Sue Baker C. Psychol.

 

Sue Baker

Sue Baker was the Director of Pyramid Educational Consultants UK. At the end of September this year, Sue retired. She worked as an educational psychologist in the UK for over 20 years, has extensive experience of implementing programmes based on applied behaviour analysis and has worked with many children, parents and professionals to set up and extend PECS programmes in home and school settings.

Following her organisation of the first National PECS Conference in the UK in 1998, Sue established the UK base for Pyramid Educational Consultants and has since been involved in developing PECS and the Pyramid Approach to Education across the UK, Europe and internationally.

Louise Malkin BSc (Hons, Psychology), PGCE

 

Louise Malkin completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2002 at the University of Portsmouth before undertaking teacher training at Leeds University in 2003.  During this time she gained experience across the full primary age range and also worked with children with English as an Additional Language. 

She began her teaching career in a mainstream school in Kent, teaching 5-6 year olds, before moving to a special school in 2005, where she taught within the Autism Unit.  It was at this time that Louise undertook her initial PECS training and began to fully implement PECS and the Pyramid Approach within her classroom, working closely with the schools Speech and Language Therapist.  She also worked extensively alongside parents to enable PECS to be implemented in the home environment, whilst undertaking further training including TEACCH and Teaching Verbal Behaviour, in which a Teacher Learning Academy submission was completed. 

Louise joined Pyramid in 2008, and is particularly interested in how PECS and the Pyramid Approach can be used to enable students to access the Early Learning Goals and National Curriculum, and to encourage behaviours that enable learning.


Gary Dadd BEd (Hons. CANTAB), MA

 

Gary Dadd graduated from Cambridge University with a B.Ed. in English and Education in 1998, followed by a Masters Degree.  Gary’s involvement with PECS and the Pyramid Approach has developed through his work in two special schools in the UK, where he predominantly taught students with autism and/or profound and multiple learning difficulties.  His school roles have included being responsible for literacy & communication and leading and implementing a project to improve the communication skills of students with PMLD.  Gary created a secondary autistic unit, initially within a year 7 class and then as a cross key stage autistic unit.  He was commended by local authority inspectors on his commitment to the use of PECS across the day.

Gary joined Pyramid as a consultant in January 2009 and has taken responsibility for furthering the use of PECS with older students and adults.
